Leanne Atwater received her Ph.D from Claremont Graduate School in Psychology in 1985. She currently holds a position as Professor of Management and Management Department Chair in the Bauer College at the University of Houston. Prior to that she served as Chair of the Management Department and Interim Dean at Arizona State University. She has been a professor of Management under Bernard Bass at Binghamton University and has taught leadership at the U. S. Naval Academy. She worked for 10 years as a researcher for the Navy Personnel Research and Development Center in San Diego. She has published over 45 journal articles and two books on subjects related to leadership and leadership development. She is currently the Editor for the top scholarly journal on leadership in the world, The Leadership Quarterly. She does consulting in areas related to leadership development and change management for public and private sector organizations. She is married to David Atwater and has two grown daughters.
