ACE (Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship) BCIT partners with LifePilot University Mentorship Program for students to chart their course in life.
BCIT and ACE sponsors logistics and support to facilitate LifePilot workshop and mutual mission to guide students to reach their highest, personal potential
Vancouver, BC May 3 – Eager students rushed to the BCIT downtown conference room earlier today to take part in LifePilot’s mentorship program while at the same time, gain the tools to align their personal values with their professional goals through the LifeManual process.
“Our university mentorship series is a move to provide students with the confidence, strategies and tools to discover their course in life and give them the opportunity to develop a relationship with local entrepreneurs”, says LifePilot VP Chris Smith who navigated the workshop. “Several members of the EO organization have agreed to volunteer their time to give back and become a mentor to the students. ACE BCIT has done a tremendous job in helping us present the first University Mentorship Series workshop of 2006 at BCIT.”
We had an overwhelming response with more students attending than had actually registered – the word of this generous opportunity to partake at such an invaluable learning experience spread quickly, says Erin Treloar, VP of Team Development at ACE. “On behalf of LifePilot, BCIT and ACE, I would like to thank The Keg Spirit Foundation and Trez Capital for their generosity to making this day possible for the students.”
“Many of the things said seem like common knowledge until you realize that you never put them into practice”, says Sam Macmillan, BCIT student and president of ACE. In fact, “this should be a course everyone should take once a year”, notes EO member Sarah McNeill from McNeill Nakamoto Recruitment Group who attended the session as a volunteer mentor.
Students selected for each workshop receive valuable life education to balance their university experience. The program creates lasting relationships between students, alumni, mentors, local entrepreneurs and their businesses. The combination of real world expertise with a hands-on approach to setting priorities against their core values, gives students a learning experience they will apply for the rest of their lives.
